Garrett P. Ashley

Garrett Ashley became Vice Chancellor of University Relations and Advancement at California State University in November, 2008. In his position, Ashley oversees several areas of the country’s largest public university system including system wide fundraising and development programs, state and federal legislative affairs, community relations, alumni relations, communications and public affairs. In addition, Mr. Ashley serves as President of the California State University Foundation.

Mr. Ashley was Undersecretary for International Trade in the Business Transportation and Housing Agency for the State of California. He was Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations in Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s office. Mr. Ashley served as the first Executive Director of TechNet Orange County, a nationwide trade association of high tech CEOs. He served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Steve Kuykendall and also worked for Governor Pete Wilson and was an intern for Senator Pete Domenici. Mr. Ashley received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of New Mexico.
